Regularly my PC can't find SSD in M2_1 slot at boot time. After some times to specific reboots it present. Specific reboot - because all times you need go to BIOS settings and press Save. Even if it is only one disk in system. After adding SATA disks less reboots required to detect SSD.
Latest firmware. How to fix it

Have you any idea why ? And any idea how to resolve it ?

My spec :
OS : Win10 Pro
CPU : I5 750 Lynnfield Technology
RAM : 12 Go Dual Channel DDR3
Motherboard : ASRock P55 Extreme
Graphic card : GTX 560 TI

The version of the BIOS : American Megatrends Inc. Version P2.70 .

What I did until now : I Change the RAM, the Graphic card, change the battery of the CMOS battery.

Thank you very much by advance for your help !

PS: I made an error earlier : I posted it on a wrong section, I copy it here, which seems to be the correct place to post this quind of question. Thank ;)

Intel Motherboards : Bizzare video output - C236 WSI + E3-1235Lv5

Subject: Bizzare video output - C236 WSI + E3-1235Lv5

Hi!
To be honest, I have a bit weird issue and I don't know if it is hardware or software related.
The video output on C236 WSI from integrated GPU in Xeon E3-1235Lv5 is present, but only if I make full shutdown of XigmaNAS(OS based on FreeBSD 12.1) and replug power cable to the NAS. Otherwise, if I i.e. make a normal restart, the video output will go blank and display will go to sleep mode.

When I replug the cable, the system is booting up for brief moment, then it shuts down and then it boots up again with video output.

My hardware spec is also a bit non-standard:

AsRock C236 WSI
Xeon E3-1235Lv5
2x16GB DDR4 ECC
Bifurcated PCIe 16x into two PCIe 8x:
1. Mellanox ConnectX-3
2. NVMe adapter for Corsair MP500 120GB (L2ARC)
8xWD RED 3TB in raidz2 - they are using all SATA ports from the board.
SATA M.2 Drive in USB enclousure connected to internal USB3 port as a boot device (Embedded XigmaNAS - boot to ramdisk) - I can only boot from USBs, all other ports (SATA/NVMe/PCIe) are occupied.

I really would not like to mess with untwisting the hardware for two reasons:
1. It is my working server
2. It was hard as hell to put all together into U-NAS NSC-800. The hardest and tightest build I ever made.

Currently I have 3 guesses what could cause the issue.

1. Maybe FlexBoot from Mellanox 10Gbe card is interfering?
2. Some change in FreeBSD - if I remember correctly, I did not have this issue some time ago - however I can not tell on which version, since my uptime are pretty high.
3. Maybe USB3 enclosure for M.2 drive is causing issues. It's not very typical boot drive. I'm using it, since normal USB-sticks have died in the past.

Do you have any advises for troubleshooting?

Would a RAM issue affect display output for the BIOS?

Yes, get ram that is on the list.

I am looking to upgrade my chip processor. I have the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Socket LGA 1155 ATX Intel Motherboard I purchased in 2014-2015. What current Intel processors (at least 6th generation) can I replace? If there is a list available, let me know how I can get access to it. Thank you.

Dear Jalmeida44,

Thank you for contacting ASRock.

In order to use the thunderbolt as a screen output port, it is required to have an integrated graphics card.

Since 9700F CPU does not have an integrated graphics card, the thunderbolt port will not have graphics signals.

If graphics output from the thunderbolt port is preferred, kindly use a CPU that has integrated graphics.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

With Z77 you will be limited to 3rd gen CPUs I'm afraid. 4th gen is on Socket
1150, 5th is almost impossible to find but also on socket 1150. 6th and 7th gen
are on socket 1151 (100 and 200 series chipset) and 8th and 9th gen are on socket
1151 (300 series chipset).

This is one of the pitfalls of intel systems, they tend to change the socket every
2 generations. It isn't like AMD where you retain the same socket over a lot more
generations.

One last question: Is there a difference between 1150 and 1155?

One last question: Is there a difference between 1150 and 1155

YES , they each support only one family of cpu. Not interchangeable

The number indicates the number of pins in the socket so yes, different number of
pins, different number of contacts on the CPU. Even when the socket has the same
number of pins, like gen 6/7 and gen 8/9, there are differences in the chipset that
make the older generation incompatible with the newer (both CPU and board).

When you are looking to upgrade a system's CPU the first thing you need to know
is the socket and chipset. With that information you can then find a compatibility
list, like the one ASRock_TSD linked. Having your board model makes that even
easier to find. Just go to your board's product page and check CPU compatibility.

The best you can get for your board is an i7 3770k. If you are using an i3 or
i5 it will be a significant performance uplift for you. The other alternative
is to upgrade board, RAM and CPU. Going with AMD's AM4 platform will give you
a lot of options.

For a tighter budget I would go with:

B450 motherboard (whichever is cheapest for you)
Ryzen 5 1600 (the "AF" model can be had for a great price)
8gb of DDR4 RAM, 2x4gb kit.

If you have a bit more to spend then I would go with

B450 board, making sure it is Ryzen 3000 ready
Ryzen 5 3600
16gb of DDR4 3200 or better, 2x8gb kit.

Otherwise, keep an eye on places like ebay for a used 3770k and you can install
that in your current board. Just be sure you have a compatible BIOS version.

reinstalling the software restored the temperature point; however I encountered a new issue with my fans spinning up and spinning down randomly.

I found the motherboard temp was sometimes showing as high as 104C and even saw the CPU reporting as 118C inside the application.   All other temperature monitors showed normal temperatures around 40C.

I went in and set temperature curves in the Fan-Tastic Tuning in the BIOS directly and uninstalled F-stream. It's a bit more of a hassle as I now have to reboot to change settings, but I haven't had any further issues since.

i'm still thinking about upgrading BIOS but I'm not sure if it is worth the hassle.   Either way, at this point, using BIOS to set my OC settings and Fan settings seems to be working.

I'm trying to install a Samsung 860 EVO SSD 500GB - M.2 SATA Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology (MZ-N6E500BW) in the B365M Pro4.

I installed into M2_2. I first booted and it didn't recognize the drive. Reinstalled it and it wouldn't boot.

Then installed into M2_1 and it wouldn't boot.

Any tips?

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place. I'm having a bit of trouble with a PC I'm in the process of building. I have got it all put together but it will not power up. You flip the switch on the PSU and the board will light up then switch to a pulsing red light. If you push the power button it won't do anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the spec sheet down to the power supply.

Dear Jimmy327,

Thanks for the feedback.
We have checked with following configuration, however, we are not able to reproduce the same symptom.

Win10 1909
BIOS 1.30
CPU 8400
All of the fan headers are tested.
F-Stream (v3.0.184)

Since the F-Stream on your side is showing the temperature as high as 118C, the fan should be operating at maximum speed.

What we can try is reinstall the F-Stream again.

Make sure that all of the files under the following path are deleted.
Computer\Local Disk\Program File(x86)\ASRock Utility\A-Tuning

F-Stream (v3.0.184)
https://download.asrock.com/Utility/F-Stream/F-Stream(v3.0.184).zip

If the problem persists, clean installing Win10 is recommended.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD
