Intel Motherboards : LGA775 INCOMPATIBILITY WITH UEFI GPUS

Subject: LGA775 INCOMPATIBILITY WITH UEFI GPUS
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 at 2:31am

Hello to everyone,

I did a lil search and I didn't find similar topic so I started this one because I believe I m not the only one having such problem .

I have an ASROCK G41C-GS motherboard with the latest bios v1.40C, an ANTEC PSU of 550w and a gpu GIGABYTE GTX 650 TI BOOST 130W TDP that so far have been working absolutely fine.Yet i wanted to squeeze out   everything this system has to offer, so i bought a Palit GTX 1650 SUPER StormX 100W TDP.

I have tried everything i could (clean installs of drivers , installs through safe mode using ddu) ... Every time when the graphics driver of nvidia is attempted to install/load, the screen goes black loosing signal and it cannot be recovered. From what i read around the net it s a common issue with older boards not supporting uefi...Is there a way to go around this issue ?. I must add here that i have done the 771 to 775 mod using a xeon 5470 and i modified the 1.40c bios   adding the newest cpu instructions for those xeons   (2015 latest update) . That way the system works flawlessly , windows recognise the cpu everything works smoothly with the old gpu, so i believe this is not the issue. There s another board still being on the market , the G41C-GS REV 2.0 with newer oem bios than the original board ... could i use that since the 2 boards seem identical? ..Is there UEFI support or anyway support for the latest GPUS ? Spending 100 bucks to conserve power and bosst a lil bit the performance of my aging system is one thing ... having to spend few hundreds of euro to build a whole new pc is another thing especially in the current circumstances. Please consider that before you easily reply to me to go build a new system to fit in the GTX 1650 SUPER. GPUS should work in every board having pcie x16 and appropriate PSU power with varying performance ofc but still functional, since the manufacturers requirements for GPU are limited down to the PSU WATTAGE/available power connectors and a minimum storage space available NOTHING ELSE.

Thank you in advance

Intel Motherboards : Can't Access BIOS H81M-VG4

I cannot access my BIOS anymore for whatever reason. I know I can utilize UEFI BIOS, but I am not sure my BIOS version supports that. I remember some time ago I updated my BIOS, I believe for UEFI purposes, and the new version removed the ability to overclock.

My current BIOS is v1.40. So, 2 questions:

- Does UEFI allow overclocking?
- What version(s) of bios removed overclocking and then subsequently included it again?

I cannot remember which version I installed, but it did not allow for overclocking. And note, this is a quote from the ASROCK bios page:

"ASRock Beta version BIOS are designed for the users who are seeking to achieve the best performance out of their PCs such as gamers, overclocking lovers and PC enthusiasts."

Thanks for any insight.

I received a confirmation on another new motherboard, exactly the same bug.

This is not physical damage of my board or bios corruption.

As you can see for more than six months and there is no firmware fix.

Tech support ASROCK just ignore me.

Yes, there is no official answer.

The best thing to do is not to buy company products in the future, with such an approach to the client it is very sad.

Hi,

I have an ASRock J3455-ITX. Before any fans on top of the heat sink, the temperature is around 42 to 52 degrees Celsius. Maybe radiation is not good enough. Some air circulation would help.

Therefore, I tried several solutions: use a blower, a 3x3cm 2-pin fan, and two 5x5 3-pin fans.

Finally, a 5x5 3-pin fan may manage the temperature under 45 degrees Celsius. I also use the hard monitor in BIOS to manage the fan speed to lower the noise. A 3-pin fan can be controlled by changing the voltage.

Just my two cents.

85c+ is a little toasty for a 980ti. It may be worth checking the cooling solution
and cleaning/blowing it out. If there isn't much dust it might be a good idea to
pull the cooler off it and apply fresh thermal compound. Factory applied compound
has a tendency to harden over time and lose efficiency. Also make sure your fans
are creating decent airflow inside your case. Not knowing what case you have or
your fan config I can't really suggest anything on that front though.

I did manage to bring the temperature down under 80c using Afterburner and turning the fans up. Here are some pictures. https://imgur.com/Bu21zjA

Hi,

i've a problem with my Asrock Z390 Phantom Gaming 6 so that there is now a debug Code with 55.

Installed is a Intel Core i9 9900k and 32GB, SSD and a RTX 2080.
As powersupply is installed a Dark Rock 850w.

Normally all was Running fine but i was testing with offset to undervolting the cpu to setup a value with -0,060v (-60mv).

Stresstest with Prime95 was running well and the power consumption was by 180W (avx) and temperatur was by 72 degree for 10 minutes, then i started the asrock tuning tool and saw the voltage for offset and has change the value about 5mv and after that the system stopped and rebooted.

Since then there stands now the debug code 55.

I removed the cpu and RAM, do a BIOS Reset but that was not helpful.

So I placed one RAM module on each port but that changed nothing. Power turned off meantime.

I took the RAM modules and installed them into another PC, this one starts fine and no debug code, windows has started.

So my question is now, how i can find out that cpu is broken or is it possible that the mobo is broken too?

Thanks a lot.
André

Disconnect power from the system, pull the CMOS battery then press the power button
for 5 - 10 seconds and leave the system like this (no power connected and battery
out) for an hour. See if the system gives you POST after that. If not RMA the CPU,
if it won't POST after a full CMOS clear it most likely has a blown IMC.

Hey guys I'm at my whits end with this motherboard . At one point I was able to turn it on , but it would not boot. After some investigating I noticed one of my ram sticks was not lighting up and also i did not connect a psu cable to my HDD drive . After I re seated that ram stick and made sure my 8 & 24 pin was in correctly in the mobo AND most importantly made sure the onboard connectors were correct. When I went to test it ..... it would not turn on from the power button like before and now only shows the slow blinking blue light . I am truly lost and was hoping for some guidance. I've gone as far as trying to find some here in LA / San Gabriel Valley to get it done for me for money lol.
