Hi so recently i have upgraded my internet speed, it used too be 100Mbps and now its 200mMbps but i am not getting those speeds on my desktop which is wired by Ethernet. My wifi is hitting 200Mbps+ easy. I tried too connect the same Ethernet cable to another laptop and that reaches 200Mbps+ very easily. This made me realise it might actually be my motherboard. My motherboard is a AsRock Z370 Extreme4, I have tried everything like updating my drivers, checking my router settings to deleting all network drivers in device manger and letting it reinstall them after restarting my Pc. Is there anything else i could do ? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I just built a machine.

BUILD INCLUDES:

CPU: Intel Core i5-9400F Desktop Processor 6 Cores 4.1 GHz Turbo Without Graphics
MB: asrock z390 phantom gaming-itx/ac
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz
Storage: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E1T0B/AM)
Storage: Seagate BarraCuda 2TB Internal Hard Drive HDD ??3.5 Inch SATA 6Gb/s 7200 RPM
Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB 750W 80+ Bronze

I didn't get a graphics card as I plan to use the onboard graphics.

Since I can't see the UEFI after spamming the F2 key, I have yet to load the OS (Windows 10)

I would love some advice. I am a newbie...

Cheers!

Dear r9tee,

Thanks for posting your query to ASRock forum.

Since the CPU 9400F does not have the integrated graphics, it is required to install a graphics card to the system in order to have the signals provided to the monitor.

Hopefully, the information above helps.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

Dear Rzoro,

Thank you for posting your query to the ASRock forum.

Regarding your question, please try the followings:
1. Install different LAN cable with different LAN ports on the router.
2. Try restarting the router.
3. Download the latest LAN driver 25.0 from the following link:
   https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25016?product=82186
-While installing the driver, please make sure that "Intel PROSet Adapter Configuration Utility" is installed.
-Launch Intel PROSet Adapter Configuration Utility.
-Turn off the "Energy Efficient Ethernet" and other energy-saving settings.
-Select the "Speed & Duplex", then select the "1.0Gbps Full Duplex" manually.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

Thanks for catching that. I appreciate you not giving this newbie a hard time. I found out this info last night and did a facepalm. Didn't think I let anything slip by on my build and then I caught that about the CPU.

I purchased a graphics card and hope to have the system up and running!

Cheers!

An update for anyone who happens to blunder into this topic.

The boost now seems to go up to 4800 or 4900mhz. I'll take it I guess.

As for the fan issue, it turns out the 4th, 5th and 6th fan headers:
4 - Above slot PCIE1, the right one CHA_FAN4/WP
5 - The one in the very top right corner of the board, CHA-FAN5/WP
6 - The one in between the M2_1 slot and the RAM slots in the middle of the board under the CPU, CHA_FAN6/WP

All appear to interpret the settings different to the others (CPU_Fan 1, CHA-FAN1/WP, CPU-Fan2/WP and CHA_FAN3/WP), and as such don't work properly in the bios. It only seems to look vaguely correct if you tune it in the asrock software.

I finally got around to swapping the fan that was in CHA_FAN6/WP, putting it in CHA_FAN2/WP, and moving my AIO Pump to the CHA_FAN5/WP.

Then I could go into the bios and set them all up using the Hardware Monitor section, they now all work properly on PWM settings.

Greetings,

I have just gotten started with my new machine. The motherboard is in the subject header and the CPU is a 9900K in Windows 10.

Everything is running OK as I learn about the board and BIOS. The only issue is Thunderbolt not appearing in Windows. Nothing in Device Manager. Everything in the Thunderbolt software is blank.

I installed the latest driver from the motherboard's support page. The BIOS is running on Optimized defaults for the time being. The only changes have I made are to disable Thunderbolt security in the BIOS and set custom fan profiles in Fan Tastic. I tried disabling security in the BIOS as that was required to use a Thunderbolt dock on another machine.

I would be grateful if I could get some guidance as to how to get Thunderbolt working.

I hope everyone is keeping well in these trying times,

Graham

Sorry, I?m new here and posted this in the wrong area first time.
I don?t know how to ask the moderators to remove the original thread, I tried to report my own post to the Mods but I can?t!
Original post below:

Hi all,
I'm new here, so I hope this is the right forum.

Jut a little background.
I have a little issue with a build I did a few months ago.
I've always built my own PC's but, not for many years now.
When I wanted another tower unit, I was a little out of touch, so I asked my son who is heavily into PC gaming for some help.
I wanted the machine for graphics, CAD, Virtual Machines, office stuff, some coding, and video editing, but not gaming really.
He persuaded me to look at gaming kit because he knew it, and his rationale was that if it would run a high spec game well then it should do what I needed.
Which made sense.

So we worked up a spec, and looking at value for money, and availability at the time, I opted for the Z390 Steel Legend motherboard, I had previously (many years ago) had issues with AMD processors, so I had decided on the intel route, and picked the i9-9900k.
RAM wise I went for Corsair Vengence 2x32GB sticks.
The RAM is CMK66GX4M2D3000C16.
This was in the compatibility lists for both motherboard and processor.
HDD is a Samsung 970 EVO NVMe-M.2

When I built the machine it was very laggy & slow, jittery mouse movements, ages to open programmes.

I was running the default BIOS settings though.
Ran CPU-id and the processor & RAM were running slow.
It was quite easy for the processor, the MB recognised it could be clocked to 5GHz and was quite happy to do that.
The issue is setting the RAM speeds.
I am pretty convinced that my remaining issues are due to the RAM settings.
I played around a little in the BIOS, and got things a little better, but not much.
I would put some screen shots of the CPU-id results, but I don't know how.
Is there anyone who can give me some guidance please on setting up the RAM in the BIOS.
Every time I seem to make changes the system won't boot, and I end up having to go back to default BIOS settings.

Sorry for the long message, I hoped that including the information now, might help make things clearer.
Any help and guidance appreciated.
